Hopfenzauber No-Belly Bier Review: Is This Goa’s New Beer for the No-Beer-Belly Crowd?

  • August 27, 2026
  • spotlight

Forget the beer belly for a minute.

There’s a new beer doing the rounds in Goa that caught our attention for a pretty simple reason — Hopfenzauber No-Belly Bier.

At 4.9% ABV and around ₹110 a bottle, it’s being marketed as a low-calorie beer with no added sugar, no added colours and no preservatives. Sounds good on paper, but the real question is pretty obvious:

Does it actually taste good?

So we gave it a try.

First impression

The best way to have this one is simple — get it properly cold and drink it chilled.

The first sip is quite refreshing. It’s light, crisp and easy to drink, without that overly heavy feeling you sometimes get with beer.

It’s not one of those beers where you need to sit there trying to figure out what you’re tasting. It’s straightforward and refreshing, which honestly works pretty well for Goa.

Beach, friends, music, sunset — you get the idea.

How does No-Belly actually taste?

For us, the taste is a solid 4/5.

It has a clean, crisp character with a mild maltiness and a fairly smooth finish. The 4.9% ABV gives it enough kick to still feel like a proper beer, but it doesn’t come across as particularly heavy.

If you like your beer cold, refreshing and easy to drink rather than extremely bitter or strong, you’ll probably enjoy this one.

And because it isn’t loaded with sweetness, the finish doesn’t feel syrupy.

Cold. Crisp. Smooth. That’s basically the No-Belly experience.

But what about the “No-Belly” part?

This is obviously the bit that gets everyone’s attention.

The beer is positioned as a low-calorie option, which is probably what makes it different from the usual beers sitting in your fridge.

It also comes without added sugar, added colours or preservatives.

But let’s be realistic — No-Belly doesn’t mean you can drink unlimited beer and somehow avoid gaining weight. Alcohol itself contains calories.

What we like about the idea is simpler: if you’re going to have a beer anyway, having a lighter option is an interesting choice.

Why it could work in Goa

Honestly, Goa seems like a pretty good market for this beer.

Nobody really wants a heavy drink when it’s hot outside.

You want something cold, you want it refreshing, and you don’t necessarily want to feel completely stuffed after a couple of beers.

That’s where No-Belly makes sense.

At ₹110, it’s also reasonably priced if you’re looking to try something new without spending too much.

Where can you get it?

Hopfenzauber No-Belly Bier is available at selected wine shops across Goa, including outlets in areas such as Panjim, Candolim, Porvorim, Siolim, Anjuna, Vagator and Morjim.

If you’re around Morjim, you can check Hard Taste Wineshop for availability.

Stock can obviously vary from shop to shop, so it’s worth checking before heading out specifically for it.

Our verdict

Would we drink it again?

Yes.

Is it the greatest beer we’ve ever had?

Probably not.

But that’s not really the point.

It’s a good, easy-drinking beer that tastes better when served really cold, has a decent 4.9% ABV, and comes with the added attraction of being positioned as a low-calorie beer.

For ₹110, we’d say it’s definitely worth trying.

Our rating: ⭐ 4/5

Taste: 4/5
Crisp & refreshing: 4/5
Smoothness: 4/5
Value: 4/5

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a cold, crisp beer in Goa that doesn’t feel unnecessarily heavy, give No-Belly a shot.

And yes, the name is going to make your friends ask about it.

Just don’t use “No-Belly” as an excuse to drink five of them. 😄
